1.Why are the socks unwearoutable?
They are made on antique circular sock machines that were made at the turn of the century with a combination of 75% wool 25% nylon reinforced with linen thread - and the rest is a secret ingredient held by my knitters!
2.What is the difference between 4ply and 8ply?
4ply fits in a country shoe, whereas 8ply is equivalent to wearing two pairs of socks, but much more comfortable.
3.Is there elastic in the sock?
There is no elastic in our socks but we can put shirring elastic in the top if needed - these are particularly suitable for those with certain medical conditions.
4.Are they machine washable?
Yes they are machine washable on a wool cycle - they do not pill, bobble or shrink.
5.Can you make different sized socks for different sized feet in a pair - e.g. one foot larger or smaller?
Yes we can knit the exact measurements for each foot.
6.How long is almost unwearoutable?
I have a letter from a customer who states that he is still wearing my socks after 20 years!
7.If I do not know my sock size, how do I order?
That is why we use shoe sizes. However, if you come to our premises or any of our outlets we can measure by putting a sock around a clenched fist. The toe and heel should meet without pulling and your sock will fit you. If you would prefer to draw around your foot on a piece of paper and fax it back to us, we can knit you a pair of socks to fit.
8.Can I put anything in the way of a message on the top of the socks?
Yes and no. The knitters are old and shockable so I have to be the censor for anything going on top of the socks. There is room for nine letters or spaces and two lines.
9.A survey said that 95% of men made love with their socks on. Is this true?
I have no idea but were they unwearoutable?
10.How do men hold up the thigh length wader stockings?
I was told that it was with their wife's suspender belt.
